Women in Business

The 2019 Women in Business - Think Pink Event will be held Thursday, October 10, 6:00 PM at Central Square Complex! The theme for this year is "Think Pink, Love, and Cure." We expect to see some groovy decor! For more information on participating this year click here!

The Women in Business program promotes job skills and leadership for women at all levels in the workplace. The Chamber holds meetings that feature various business and educational topics as well as supports the Chamber’s annual award to honor women who have shown outstanding leadership qualities.  The Jackie Wilson Women in Leadership award was created to honor one outstanding woman each year and is presented at the Women in Business Fall event, typically held in October. Recipients must represent outstanding leadership skills in community or economic development. She (or her company) must be a member in good standing with the Chamber of Commerce. Nomination may be submitted throughout the year with a final review by the committee at least four weeks prior to presentation. To nominate someone for the award or learn more about the Women in Business program, contact Mesha Davis, (912) 384-1873 or email chamber@douglasga.org.

Chamber Travel

The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce has a long history of supporting business growth and development. Just as the Chamber brings people and businesses together through “at home” Chamber events, a trip with the Chamber allows travelers to build relationships for business development. Trips are open to Chamber members and non-members.

Travel excursions through the Chamber are invaluable to promote your business and our local community.  The next trip scheduled for Fall 2019 is  to Switzerland, Austria and Barvaria (Oct 31 - Nov 9, 2019).

For more information contact the Chamber at (912) 384-1873 or by email chamber@douglasga.org.

PROGRAMS

The Ambassador Program

Ambassadors are volunteers who, on behalf of the Chamber, make good will calls to encourage strong continuing membership and active support of Chamber programs.  Ambassadors assist in membership retention, program development, and information dissemination. As volunteers, ambassadors are dedicated to improving the quality of life of the community through association with the chamber. There is also a great personal benefit returned from their service. Ambassadors gain knowledge of the community and the Chamber, develop personal relationships with business leaders, obtain an insider’s perspective on economic development activities, and expose their own business among other business partners.
For information, please contact Megan Rabun, (912) 384-1873, mrabun@douglasga.org

Leadership Coffee

Douglas and Coffee County have always enjoyed a highly respected reputation for its progressive leadership and quality of life. One of the reasons for its success in these areas is our commitment to leadership development. The Leadership Coffee program was established in 1990 for that purpose.

Participants in Leadership Coffee commit to an eight-month project that allows them to take a close look at government, education, economic development, and all issues dealing with quality of life on a local and state level. The program is designed to help participants develop leadership skills for the workplace and the community.

Drugs Don't Work

Employers in Georgia certified by the State Board of Workers' Compensation as having a drug-free workplace are entitled to a 7.5% discount on their workers' compensation premiums. It is designed to assist businesses in achieving drug-free certification. As a business member you will have the opportunity to participate in a statewide drug-free workplace program established by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Serving as the contact agency for Coffee County, the Chamber can help you meet workers' compensation requirements for premium discounts. A membership and participation fee is required. A company must also write a drug-free policy, implement an employee assistance program, and establish drug testing policies and procedures. An additional requirement that must be met is the provision of educational programs or services. Through the chamber and support agencies, we can help you meet this need – at no cost to your business.
For more information, please contact the chamber office at 912-384-1873.
